About Me

We all have a story

I am a psychology graduate who went on to spend the next decade in Local Government Policy and Research, followed by senior roles leading National Strategy in the NHS and heading up Transformation for a large acute NHS Trust.

However, it took me until my early 30s to take the leap of faith and work for myself so that I could work in the way I needed and further strengthen my passion around creating spaces for stories to be heard.

Over a decade ago, I retrained as a psychotherapist, studying alongside full-time work. Building up my therapy practice, slowly, from the ground up: a judgement-free space overflowing with compassion.

Since then, I’ve held space for hundreds of women's stories and completed further study, graduating with an MSc in Psychology in 2022.

In July 2023, I was diagnosed with an aggressive type of breast cancer and again in the summer of 2024. Treatment included chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy and targeted therapies.

I completed treatment at the end of 2024 and placed my colorful flag at the summit of my breast cancer mountain, just as my first book 'Rediscovered' was published in February 2025.

What I discovered was there was no climb back down the mountain, only a metaphorical log cabin among the trees, where I could retreat, rest, and rewild myself.

It’s fair to say my 40+ years have been full.

I’m a late-discovered, multiply neurodivergent woman and parent who has navigated loss, trauma, adversity and who lives with a multitude of chronic pain and energy-limiting health conditions, including ME.

All of these experiences, the differences, the challenges and the diversity, have without a doubt shaped me. They’ve filled me with compassion and given me a deep capacity to support others from a place of lived wisdom, as well as professional knowledge.

Now, in 2026, having survived cancer twice and in remission, I’m bringing together 20+ years of professional and personal experience into work that is more inclusive, more compassionate, and more human than ever.

Focused on stories, spaces and systems - in a way that supports and creates space for me too, in this new found rhythm I find myself beyond the climb.

Asta is the middle name I gifted to myself in my 30’s to honour my strength, my danish heritage and my love of all things scandi.

It means ‘divine strength’.

The space I create in my work is built on that same strength, compassion, vulnerability and courage.

My Evidence Bank

I took a brave step in arranging 3 of our team clinicians to attend Catherine’s Circles training. Not only was I 100% confident in my clinicians, but I was also 100% confident in the quality of training and support that Catherine would give my team. The training has now finished and I am blown away by what has emerged from the training.  Woven through is Catherine’s approach to holding Circles – compassionate, neuroinclusive, trauma informed.  I HIGHLY recommend Catherine’s Programme. I can see how helpful this would be in facilitating any circles, in any context.

Thanks so much for the thoughtful design and delivery of the Gather + Belong programme Catherine! I feel really resourced and energised about using what I’ve learned in my own facilitation work. The contents were considered and accessible and reminded me that care for ones personal capacity is central to holding space for others.

Catherine is a fantastic interviewer, and wonderful facilitator, who is able to hold space, use her platform and shine a light on important topics. I was a guest on Season 2 of her innovative and inclusive podcast The Late Discovered Club.  Catherine has such an inviting and calming manner and really allows people to open up and be their authentic selves. The work Catherine is doing is brave, raw, genuine, impactful, crucial, creative and beautiful. And I thank her and Caty for welcoming me to be a part of it.

A masterclass in vulnerability

If the first two episodes of The Late Discovered Club are anything to go by the rest of this podcast series is going to be incredible listening. I related to so much of what was shared in the first episode, way more than anticipated actually and whilst it seems too easy and trite to say I felt seen it’s the only suitable response. Bravo Catherine for your bravery and desire to help make life better for so many of us who are misunderstood.

I have known Catherine for several years.  Even from the very start of her training she has inspired me with her style, sense of purpose and humility.  I have watched almost mesmerised, but not surprised by her rise to the very top of the Psychotherapy profession. Almost unheard of was her award of a Fellowship of the National Council of Integrative Psychotherapists in no more than four years of private practice.

Director of NCIP

We invited Catherine to join our workshop as an expert speaker and she spoke from her personal and professional experience with great authority, compassion and clarity. She understood immediately what we wanted to get out of the session and worked closely with us to deliver an inspiring and enlightening interview. The client team thoroughly enjoyed hearing about her experiences, and many new understandings and ideas arose from this piece of work.
